Dog Treats, Snacks, Food, and Supplements
In order to make sure that your dog is in perfect health you need to feed him or her the right food. But you also need to think about treats and supplements as well. You don't want to feed your dog the perfect healthy food only to get treats that are unhealthy. You need to choose food, treats, and supplements that will work together for your dog to provide the best nutrition possible.
Dog Food
Just like all animals, dogs need proper nutrition. That is why you need to get the best food possible depending on the breed, the size, the age, and the activity level of your dog. If your dog is still a young puppy he may need a special puppy food that is higher in fat. Or perhaps your dog is a small breed and can't bite the normal size dog food kibble. Maybe your dog just doesn't like dry food and would prefer wet dog food instead. You want to make sure that your dog gets the healthiest food possible but you also want to make sure that it is being eaten by your dog as well. Don't get dry dog food just because it is cheaper. If your dog doesn't eat enough then it doesn't matter how cheap it is. Dogs can be just as picky with their food as humans, so you may have to experiment a little with different types and brands of food. Check the ingredients and nutrition content before purchasing also. If you get a type of food that is made from chicken and you can tell that your dog doesn't like it and barely eats it, you may want to try another type of food with another source of protein, such as fish or lamb.
Dog Treats and Snacks
Just like people, dogs like to have a tasty treat now and then. Dog treats are good for many different reasons. You can train your dog using treats to coarse him into doing what you want him to do. Or if you are leaving the house and want to distract your dog while you make your exit, you can reach for the treats and give your dog a few before you walk out the door. As with dog food, treats also have different nutrition content and tastes. There are also soft treats and hard treats as well, so get the type that best fits your dog. You might not want to get hard treats for your little chihuahua as they may be hard to chew. It defeats the purpose of having treats if your dog doesn't want to eat them. So choose the right dog treats for your canine companion and you will both be much happier.
Dog Health Supplements
Sometimes food and snacks don't provide enough nutrition and you need to supplement your dog's diet with extra ingredients. Perhaps your dog is having hair problems and seems to be shedding much more than normal. Or maybe your dog is a little overweight. There are many different types of health supplements that you can get for your dog. Most can be mixed in with your dogs regular food to give it a little extra nutrition. Other supplements can be given to your dig inside a treat or some food such as a piece of meat or cheese. Depending on your dog and its health needs, you may have to get extra supplements to ensure that he or she is getting the best possible nutrition.
